Google will launch an artificial intelligence-based service that will let its employees work in a company’s cloud computing facilities and work in the same office or building as its top talent, Microsoft Corp. Chief Executive Satya Nadella announced Thursday.
Microsoft will develop an “infrastructure” for cloud computing, a new company that Microsoft hopes will help companies manage their cloud computing resources, he said at the International CES in Las Vegas.
This cloud computing will enable organizations to work together on new and innovative products and services, and make it easier for people to get work done, Nadell said.
“Our customers are looking for ways to get more value from their cloud, and the infrastructure will allow them to do so,” he said.
“This will help them to get better value for their cloud resources, and they can then use these resources to deliver more value to their customers.”
Nadell made his remarks to a packed audience at the annual CES, the world’s largest consumer electronics show.
Nadella said he wanted the cloud computing services to be easy to use for employees and companies, and that he was excited to collaborate with Microsoft on the technology.
The cloud computing service will be a “new kind of cloud,” Nadello said.
Microsoft’s cloud services will be powered by Azure, a service of Amazon Web Services.
Microsoft will launch Azure in 2019.
Azure’s cloud offerings will have a different approach to how they will run than Microsoft’s existing cloud services, Ndell said.
The cloud services are designed to scale automatically to meet the demands of businesses.
Amazon Web Services, Microsoft’s rival, has been focused on a service called AWS, or “Amazon Web Service.”
It runs on the AWS cloud platform.
Microsoft has said it will use Azure as its cloud services platform.
Ndell’s remarks came after he told investors in February that Microsoft is focused on cloud computing and will use cloud computing as a way to deliver new and exciting products and to create new ways to do business.
He said at that time that Microsoft had already begun to build a cloud infrastructure for its cloud service.
Microsoft is now planning to open up a new cloud infrastructure, but it is unclear when or where that will happen.
Nadello also said Thursday that Microsoft would be making some “big changes” in how it delivers cloud computing to employees, as well as other aspects of its business.
